Ravello - Set above the Coast

Ravello

Overview

Ravello sits high above the Amalfi Coast, removed from the crowds and movement below. It’s less about beaches and more about perspective—open views, quiet streets, and a slower rhythm that feels noticeably different from the rest of the coast.

This is where you come to step back a bit.

It’s especially well-suited for a more relaxed stay, or as a day that feels intentionally unhurried.

Ravello

Where to Stay

Ravello is one of the best places on the coast to stay if you value:

  • quiet
  • space
  • uninterrupted views

Look for:

  • properties with terraces overlooking the coastline
  • proximity to the main square (without being directly on it)
  • gardens or outdoor spaces—you’ll actually use them here

Ravello

Where to Eat

Dining in Ravello tends to be more relaxed and less crowded than along the coast.

Focus on:

  • restaurants with views, especially at sunset
  • longer, slower meals
  • reservations for dinner, even though it’s quieter

This is a place to sit, not rush.

Ravello

What to Do

Ravello doesn’t require much planning—that’s part of the appeal.

  • Visit the gardens at Villa Cimbrone or Villa Rufolo
  • Walk through town and around the quieter side streets
  • Spend time simply taking in the views
  • Pair it with a long lunch or early evening aperitivo

Ravello

Notes that Matter

  • It’s not a beach town — plan accordingly
  • Transportation takes a bit more effort — but it’s worth it
  • Best enjoyed slowly — don’t try to “fill the day.”
  • Ideal as a contrast to the more active parts of the coast

Ravello is less about what you do—and more about how you feel while you’re there.
